Transport in Córdoba

Córdoba is a very comfortable city for walking, as the city centre has hardly any unevenness (for this reason it is known as "Cordoba the flat").

The walking distance to the most important tourist attractions is no more than 30 minutes. Moreover, the walk is highly recommended, crossing the streets of the historic and commercial centre of the city, especially if the temperature is pleasant. There are many alternative routes from our house to the old town, which allow us to visit many interesting places.

However, when it is hot or when we want to use all our energy to visit the city, it is advisable to use public transport, mainly the city bus, which has stops less than 50 m from our flat and is air-conditioned.

Bus

Price of a single ticket is € 1.30. If we use a top-up card (which costs 1,50 €) and can be purchased at the information office in Plaza de Colón (5 min. walk from the flat), the ticket price is reduced to 0,72 €, which also allows a 1 hour transfer. The card can be recharged on many buses with credit cards and other means of payment. If you are going to use the bus for a few days, this is the best option, as it allows you to cancel several tickets at the same time with the same card, as it is not a single person card. There are other specific fidelity cards (monthly season ticket, student card or pensioner's card). Except at rush hour, buses are not usually very crowded.

At bus stops you can find a sign indicating WAITING TIME (TIEMPO DE ESPERA, in original Spanish) with a QR code to find out when will arrive the next buses at that bus stop. We encourage you to use it.

MOST USEFUL ROUTES FROM OUR FLAT TO HISTORIC CENTER (Cross the avenue to go to the bus stop opposite: Avda Ollerías - S Cayetano)

Line 04: Fidiana-Renfe-Miralbaida. This line takes us to the train and bus station and allows us to come from the station to our house without using a taxi. In the image you can see the bus stops next to the train and bus station.

Lines 02 and 06: At the same bus stop you will be taken to the old town.  You can leave the bus at one of the following bus stops, depending on what place are you interested in:

  • Glorieta Cruz Roja: this allows us to enter the Jewish Quarter through the Puerta de Almodóvar, in the direction of the Mosque.
  • Av. Vallellano (Police Station): Closest to the Roman Wall, Caliphate Baths. From there you can also easily access the Mosque and the Alcazar.
  • Puerta Sevilla DC: Direct access to the neighbourhood of S Basilio (patios), and Alcázar. Also, from there to the Mosque.

It may be interesting to use line C2, which runs through part of the historic centre, and stops at Avda Ollerías, 100 metres away in the direction of Plaza de Colón.

Taxi

There is a taxi rank very close by, next to the bus stop on the same pavement as our flat, although there are often no empty taxis waiting there. Taxis are almost certainly available at the taxi rank on Calle Osario, next to the gardens of the Plaza de Colón. See map. The taxi ranks are indicated in the map below with a T.

Private car

Traffic in our city is usually quite comfortable, excluding rush hours. However, as mentioned above, walking around the city is very comfortable and the location of our property means that the whole city centre can be visited on foot. We only recommend the use of the car to visit attractions outside the city (Medina Azahara, Almodovar Castle, Nature Activities and nearby towns or villages). If possible, it is better to park your car in a convenient place and not use it during your stay in the city.

Our house does not have a private garage, so we suggest the following options:

  1. Look for a parking place in the free authorised areas around the house. There is quite a lot of free area, but it is not very easy to find parking (depending on the time of day). At the time to get to work, it is usually easy to find a parking space. It is also possible to use several nearby loading and unloading zones during free parking hours. It is necessary to look at each sign, as it indicates the hours reserved for commercial loading and unloading.<
  2. Regulated parking zones in the city centre. The areas in the centre and many of the surrounding areas have regulated parking for a fee (0.85 €/hour). Parking is allowed for a maximum of 2 hours during the regulated period (normally from 9am to 2pm and from 5pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday; on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm). It is advisable to check the timetable in each case at the ticket vending machines. You can pay with the ElParking app, available at Play Store. All regulated parking zones in the city are marked with a blue line.  You can leave your car there at night without any problem, until 9:00 on the following working day. At weekends, since 14:00 on Saturday, parking is free.
  3. Public car park. In Avda de la Libertad you can access the public car park indicated on the map with a P, for a price of 10 € per day, can allow you to keep your car with peace of mind throughout your stay in our house. The walking distance to our flat is 800 m (11 min walk).
